iTunes music won't drag into iPhone 4 folder

Suddenly I can no longer drag my music right into my iPhone on iTunes. I thought maybe it was the outdated iTunes so I just updated it and it still won't let me.

Also, towards the end of my 3G days and all of my 4 days, the phone won't sync automatically, even though it is set to. What's going on with all this?

Is "Manually Manage Music" checked in the iPhone options? iTunes has occasionally changed this setting when I update it.

No it wasn't checked, and now I feel like an idiot, however there's no reason I would have unchecked that ever. I've always manually managed my music since my first iPhone.

But on to the next problem, it doesn't sync on it's own anymore?
