I think Apple needs to step towards integrating social networks into itunes. There needs to be a way for users to share or recommend music to one another through their playlists such as how competitors are doing (spotify). It would be great to see new music others are buying through facebook and the other way around.

That's what Ping was supposed to be. Rumor had it that Apple and Facebook tried to integrate with each other, but couldn't settle on terms agreeable to both sides. Hence no Facebook integration.

I disagree. There are already social networking sites, for those who are into that. I don't want anyone to know what's in my library, what I buy or what I listen to, unless I know them well and care to divulge that. I want iTunes to manage and play my music, not to connect with the world.
