iTunes never saves my password

Almost every time I log into iTunes, iTunes tells me that my password is incorrect. I type in my password correctly, and then the error goes away. The next time I open iTunes, it happens again. What's going on?

iTunes recently began randomly asking for my password, too.

A variety of perplexing iTunes phenomena are revealing themselves of late.
