iTunes not accepting custom IPSW's? (Baseband preserve upgrade to iOS5 using Redsn0w)

This might not be the right place to ask, but the iJailbreak forums seem to be broken and don't process my posts. I'm just hoping someone here can help me.

I'm having a lot of trouble upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 or 5.0.1 preserving my current baseband 4.10.01

My phone contains a Gevey Pro Turbo Sim.

Running OSX Mountain Lion with iTunes 10.6.3(25).

At first I used redsn0w 0.9.9b5 as suggested in the tutorial, but it would only accept iOS5.0 ipsw's, not 5.0.1.

So I downloaded redsn0w 0.9.14b2 and used that on the iOS 5.0.1 custom "NO_BB" ipsw.

Plugged my iPhone in, and started it in PWNed DFU mode with the help of redsn0w. I then loaded my NO_BB ipsw via iTunes 10.6.3.

After extracting the ipsw, iTunes just gives me an error saying The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored, this device isn't eligible for the requested build.

Now I originally downloaded the ipsw for the GSM iPhone4, and that's what I have..

When I disconnect from the web iTunes tells me it can't verify the ipsw with the server.

Do I need to downgrade iTunes 10.6.3 or something? If so, to which version?

In order to restore to any older firmware, you must have saved the hash and APTicket files for that firmware.
You must stitch those to the No_BB IPSW using Redsn0w.

Thanks, odd how I was following a tutorial that didn't include that part.
Can you suggest a better one?

Should I be conducting this process with the Gevey in my phone?

To preserve baseband, make a No_BB IPSW, then stitch files to it.
PwnedDFU mode
This is a bit old, so use newest Redsn0w and iTunes

You do not need sim interposer in phone, but will need an official sim, sim interposer for activation (or you can hacktivate)
