iTunes not backing up iP4!!

I already deleted iTunes and re-installed it prior to posting this thread. I cannot seem to backup my iP4 from iTunes and iTunes itself does not allow me to either automatically backup or manually backup. I have the latest software from iTunes and my iP4 is JB with 4.2.1. Although, this has only happened after JB my iP4 but that is not the case since I have tested my iP4 on another MacBook as it does give me the option to backup but just not responding in my MacBook Pro. Any suggestions?
