Hi,
I'm running the latest version of iTunes on latest version of OSX Mountain Lion. I recently spent many hours updating the tags of my tracks (specifically the Comments field) in order to tag the tracks with multiple genres etc.
Now I've realised that, as soon as I play the track, the metadata is read from file and my changes in iTunes are overwritten. So it seems that iTunes' own database has my comments/tags, but isn't writing it to file and whenever the file is read, it's metadata overrides the iTunes database's metadata.
iTunes match is switched off, so it can't be the problem. Also, although my iTunes folder is located on a Drobo FS (network attached storage) I have verified that it's not a permissions problem by right clicking on a track, selecting Show in Finder and then changing the name of the file. This action is successful and therefor verifies that iTunes has the permissions to change the file.
Also, Preferense-->Advanced--> Keep itunes Media folder organized is ticked, and has always been.
So I've run out of ideas. The only remaining option is to edit the tags with a 3rd party editor in the file, but since I've spent a weekend on the tagging, I'm trying to avoid re-doing it.
Any idea how I can 'force' iTunes to commit my changes/tags to file?
PS, all the files are m4a/AAC.
Thanks
