iTunes not editing id3 tags

I thought that iTunes was supposed to edit id3 tags no? When editing info in the program it does not affect changes to the files themselves, how should I go about fixing this?

Another small itunes related matter is that when plugged in it does not register on my desktop (even though I have the option t do so checked off)

Right-click on the song(s) in question and select Convert ID3 Tags.

The iPhone and iPod touch don't have disk use as an option (it can't be used as an external drive like other iPods), that's why it doesn't show on the desktop. Totally normal

Alright that makes sense as to why it cant show on the desktop


However I have tried clicking convert id3 tags and then used v2.4 and it doesnt change the info in the file? What am I not doing right?
