iPod touch iTunes not opening...

I have my iTunes set to automatically open when I plug in my IPT and it has always done it, but in the last couple of days iTunes has NOT opened automatically. I just looked, and the appropriate check box is indeed checked. I can manually open iTunes and synch when I want but I'd rather have it work automatically. Any ideas?
I have not made any changes to iTunes or my IPT.

is there also a setting on the ipod? if not i suppose you could try to reset the settings on itunes .

Before using msconfig tool look for an iTunes icon (link) in the startup folder. You can find it on the start button > Programs > Startup
