I've just bought a new Mac, and moved everything across from my old one using Migration Assistant. Everything seems fine, except iTunes. I've got about 20k songs, but when I try to play one, it generally ignores me and plays one further down the list. I recon about 10% will play correctly, the rest just skip to the next available "working" song.

I don't know if it's relevant, but previously I saw that none of my album artwork was visible. I tried using the "get album artwork " option, and it seemed to be working away - but no artwork appeared. I then tried turning on iTunes Match, and some appeared (but not all). I checked my old iMac to see if iTunes Match had been switched on, and it wasn't, so I turned it off again on the new one. THat's when I noticed the problem playing back songs. I've now turned it on again to see if it will rebuild the library correctly, but that will take ages I presume.

Finally, I thought I could overcome the issue by restoring the iTunes library from the Time Machine backup on my old iMac. THis looke promising, but then I got an error saying that items couldn't be copied as the file "Cache" was in use.

Very frustrating!! Any ideas??
