iPod iTunes not recognising iPod after restored

I was taking some music off a friends computer using my ipod 4gen 20gb. it wasn't coming up with the usual message about transferring the songs, so i pressed restore to delete all the hard drive.

Now when i plug it in, an icon which say to plug it into a socket comes up. iTunes is not recognising it at all now.

Any suggestions?

problem resolved, i used my firewire cable instead of the USB and that worked for some reason
