iTunes will not show iPhone 6 in the side bar for wifi syncing. Any suggestions?

No. I have closed and reopened iTunes and I've also rebooted Macbook Air and iTunes still does not show any device at all.

This issue is only when syncing over wifi. When syncing with cable there is no problem.

My iPad 3rd gen is visible in the sidebar and can be synced over wifi. The iPhone 6+ disappears from the sidebar when the cable is unplugged, even though it is set for wifi syncing in itunes. Neither restarting nor quitting and reopening itunes will make the iPhone 6+ appear. Has anyone found a solution to the wifi syncing problems with iPhone 6s?
