iTunes not showing embedded album art

I have embedded album art from ripped CD's. It is showing up in the mini player and it's showing up in the icon at the top of the normal player. But on some albums even though the art is embedded and even shows on the file icons, it is not showing in Grid View, *on some albums only*.

I am puzzled by this.

Any clues?

Using latest iTunes and latest OS X

EDIT: I haven't worked out what happened but I deleted the music from the Library and reloaded it and the missing album art came back.
