itunes not showing song in MBA

I copy my mp3 files to /Users/utstudent/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music
and the song are not seen in itunes. Am I doing something wrong?? plz help

If you're trying to transfer another iTunes library, you first have to go to the old one and File>Library>Export Library then copy it to the new computer and in iTunes click File>Library>Import Library. After it's done you trash the file you copied over.

no, these songs are copied from my USB drive directly to those folders. I thought that iTunes would automatically recognized the songs but guess not.

Delete the songs you put in iTunes Media/Music completely, assuming you still have a copy of the songs on the USB drive.

Go into iTunes>Preferences and click the Advanced tab.

Check "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized"

Check "Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library"

Now select all of the audio files on your USB drive and simply drag them into the iTunes window.

Even more simple presto.
