I recently got an iPhone 3G to use as a backup. When I got it, I was able to sync everything and life was great.

The last time I did a sync though all my contacts disappeared. I tried turning off contact sync then turning it back on, overwriting contacts on my iPhone, and even tried restoring and nothing doing.

I did some searching and found lots of posts going back to 2008 and 2010 about this issue but I'm wondering if that's the only choices I have right now or if someone found some way better to sort this out.

Everything is up to date and nothing is jailbroken. I did download an update to Lion recently and it was after this when I noticed my contacts weren't syncing.

BTW, I do have an iPhone 4S syncing with iCloud and everything's working great.
