As of Friday, March 2, the day of the great Verizon outage, streaming on my Apple TV 4K just doesn’t work... but it also does.
Friday night I go to stream a 4K movie, it loads fine, starts to buffer (which is unusual as my 25mb down connection never does). The movie starts to loads after 20 seconds or so and immediately downgrades to 480p, it’s completely unwatchable. I contacted my internet provider and I get 25mb down on all devices.... except when loading an iTunes movie on Apple TV 4K, speedtests show only 2mb being used.
Now here’s the weird part... Netflix on the same exact device works perfectly. No buffer, perfect ultra HD streaming. Switch back to iTunes, max 2mb down and 480p stream.
According to my cable company, it isn’t my throughput nor any of my equipment. The devices are hardwired, no WiFi.
Now as of this morning, iTunes movies buffer indefinitely. Netflix loads immediately.
Any ideas?
