I want to put my itunes on my external hard drive but still be able to access
my itunes library on my macbook pro. My hard drive is filling up and I need to get rid of some tv programs but I would like to leave my music on my macbook so I dont have to tote around the external drive all the time.
any ideas?

If I understand you correctly, you're trying to have your TV shows and your itunes music in two different locations?

The way I'd try to go about doing is to move your iTunes library to your external drive, so that whenever you purchase TV shows iTunes will download them to your library on the external drive.

At the same time, though, I would uncheck the "keep iTunes library organised" checkbox in preferences and leave all the music on your local hdd so that it's still accessible through iTunes without you having to connect your external hdd.

I haven't tried this myself, but that's how I would attempt it.
