iTunes has stopped making automatic backups of my 3rd-generation 64 GB iPod Touch. I don't really know when it happened, but I'm guessing it's some time after June 12, 2010 - that's when my last backup occurred.
I only noticed because my iPod went haywire so I told it to do a restore... and all my save games went missing after the restore because it hadn't backed up in nearly two years(!).
It's currently set to "Back up to my computer" (not iCloud) and it backs up perfectly if I right-click on the iPod and click "Back Up" on my own.
FWIW, the iPod has iOS 5.1 now, and the Mac (a 2007 Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz with 3 GB RAM) is running OS X 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6 64-bit. (Although... everything has probably had older versions too since it's been going on so long).
