iTunes, OS3 & OS4 on two phones?

After a bit of help.
I want to keep my 3G iphone on OS3 with all the apps on it so my little boy can play all the games, but also I want to connect my iPhone 4 and have the same on there, is this possible? 2 iphones on one account with different OS.

Yes, they are two different phones.

My wife and I are both using the same iTunes account, and the same mac, with two iphones, and we use the same iTunes billing for apps on both devices.
