Whenever I restart my iPhone 6S I have to keep putting in my iTunes password. Is there a setting that needs to be checked that I'm missing?

Again how so? Why would the Apple ID password be needed? Is that security feature described somewhere?

It is to make sure that the phone is being operated by the authorized user of that account. If you lost yopur phone and it was found weeks later by someone else, would you like them to have the ability to use your Apple account?

This is not hard to understand.

That has never been a feature though. A passcode and something like that, sure, but Apple ID password upon restart, that isn't a feature that has appeared anywhere, nor do most people experience that behavior.

iTunes will always ask you for a passcode after a restart for the same reasons as the iPhone needs the passcode for a restart.

We are not talking about the passcode for the device, we are talking about the Apple ID password.

Well it has for me and the other 3 phones in our family. When I restart it asks for my Apple ID 90% of the time.

Thanks everyone, its just weird this is my first iPhone again since I've had the iPhone 5 a few years ago and it never asked me for my apple password when I'd reboot my phone.

It really shouldn't be doing that. Seems like some people are experiencing this, but that isn't the normal scenario.

I didn't think it was. That's why I thought I had an option enabled that I could turn off.

I agree.
I restart my phone and many iphones and ipads in my household all the time.
I never get a pop up message like the OP says asking me for my apple ID password.
That's not a security measure and its not supposed to do that.
Its not doing it when he's trying to purchase something from the appstore, it just pops up asking him for his itunes password after a restart and that's not normal or a security measure.

But they can't use your account anyway because they would need your fingerprint or password to purchase anything.
That being said, I don't get that pop up when I restart mine.

Just turned S+ off and then rebooted and not instantly but within 60 seconds I get the message to confirm my password for my Apple ID. It does give you a choice of "Later" or "Settings". If you choose later, the message pops up again when you try to just access the app store.

It does not bother me in the least as I have only rebooted my phone a few times from introduction day.

Wait so it just asks you for the password randomly? I thought you were talking about it asking you to put in a password while purchasing something rather than using touch id...

Try logging out of your iTunes account and then reboot and log back in.

That is assuming you used a password or finger print. Not everyone does.
I meant they would need your password or Touch ID for iTunes. You have to have a password for iTunes and they would need it to purchase anything.
