Hello World!

Well, I just ordered a 12" iBook, and I am wondering how to go about transferring my music from PC to Mac! I want to keep in tact all my playlists, ratings, play counts (i.e. the stuff that is not stored via ID3). I have an iPod which could be useful in this process, and the two computers will be networked too.

So I need to:

  • Transfer all music (including play counts, ratings, genres, playlists, &c.)
  • Bind iPod to my iBook for future synchronization

Now, I understand there is iPod Ripping software or something of that matter; I only need to use it just one time to grab everything off the pod. Would this be the good solution? Any software that can be recommended?

Thank you for your time!

I believe the "iTunes Library.xml" contains this information. Copy this file across, and copy your songs across, and it should work... anyone else know about this?

I exported the .xml file and it says the location of songs as such:

<key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/D:/Music/The%20Roots/Things%20Fall%20Apart/08%20Ain't%20Sayin'%20Nothin'%20New.mp3/</string>

So it refers to the path on the PC, which is nothing like the path on the Mac

Hmmmm
