iTunes PC to Mac Migration- Straightforward?

Hi All,

I've used the iTunes8 Backup to move iTunes from PC to PC before, does it work the same way from PC to Mac? I'm trying to switch everything over to Mac and I worry that I may potentially lose my music/playlists etc. [Need to Format Windows partition in order to move to Mac so once I backup and delete iTunes, theres no going back]

I just copied the iTunes folder (in My Music) from my PC to my Macbook and all went well (Music, podcasts, applications etc..) and all the ratings, play count etc.. transferred fine too.
