Sometimes when I insert a CD, iTunes will automatically quit, when it tries to retrieve track names from the database!!!! I have repaired disk permissions many times, and I don’t want to dump iTunes because I have 5,000 songs, and it will take for ever to put them back into iTunes from the folders!!!
I have Jaguar.3 and iTunes 3.0.1 (66)
Any suggestions????

iTunes can scan your HD for MP3 files, you don't have to import them by hand. Doesn't take long at all. Reinstalling would be a good idea, i've never had iTunes crash...

sounds like an isolated incident.

i once had a problem, that the mac crashed

and after restarting, iTunes cannot open the library and my library somehow became corrupted.

i deleted the library, dragged my music to the library folder and it reimported everything.

8000 songs in 2 minutes(?)

as long as you don't trash the stuff in your music folder, you shouldn't lose anything by reinstalling iTunes
