No, and I've never heard of that happening either. Do you use iTunes Match?

Cool thanks and yes I do use iTunes match but it annoys the life out of me as it's so buggy.
Yes!! My play counts went WAY up. Like almost doubled. I'm thinking maybe it's adding the counts from my iPhone.
Yeah mine has gone from 34 to 168
I have also experienced some bugs with play counts, where specific songs would get bumped to counts as high as 300 when this was not actually occurring. I wondered if some third party software was interfering with iTunes metadata. I didn't recall installing anything that would conflict with iTunes when this occurred though.
