Itunes - Possible to play MP3s without itunes moving the file to music folder?

i wanna use itunes to play my music, however everytime i double click on my mp3 in another location other then the "music" folder, it copys the file over to the music folder in itunes is there anyway i can disable it or could smone recommend me another mp3 player for osx

In iTunes preferences, go to the Advanced tab and uncheck "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library".
