iTunes: Prevent auto-import of mp3s

Hello!

First time poster here, please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong section or if I leave out some important details.

I've been trying to figure out how to prevent itunes from automatically importing and playing an mp3 file from a new recording.

I'll record a file using any of my recording software (audacity, magix music maker) and then when I export the recording as an mp3, itunes will open it and start playing it automatically. Is there any way to prevent this?
