When booting up iTunes it attempts to "Access iTunes Store" automatically. I hit "stop", and it reads "canceling". The whole process locks me out of iTunes for over a minute each time. Any ideas how to bypass all this nonsense?

Not sure if this would help but you could uncheck in Preferences>Store "Always check for available downloads". Also before you quit iTunes, make sure that the ITunes Store option is not highlighted. Highlight something from your Library, for example.

No, nothing of the sort is causing iTunes to constantly be searching for the store. I'm still looking.

There are a few reasons why iTunes is attempting to connect to the iTunes store:
1. If you close iTunes while you are in the iTunes Store itself, it will open back up in the store.
2. iTunes is contacting Apple to update your Genius playlist.
3. You have made a purchase that has not started/finished downloading.

What happens if you let iTunes run for that minute and not trying to cancel it?
