iTunes purchases

I have a bunch of iTunes song credits from Cheerios boxes. If I have enough, can you apply those to the purchase of an album, or are they only good for individual songs. I know I can't use them to buy the Biography shows, which are actually cheaper than an individual song, go figure.

Unfortunately song credits are usually only valid for individual songs, and can't be combined to buy albums or videos, etc...
