I have a main home PC that I have always used for my music and adding new songs via iTunes. I recently got a MBP for work and love it. Now I find myself wanting to get music on my MBP but dont want to mess up anything on my home PC. I have an iPad and an iPhone and want to sync them both. How can I make this seamless?

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do. Your iPhone/iPad can only sync to 1 computer at a time, so if you're trying to sync them to both, that won't work.

If you're trying to sync them to the MBP instead of your pc, then:

1. Authorize your account in iTunes on the new one
2. Transfer over your purchases with the devices plugged in (file>transfer purchases from ipod)
3. Transfer over the rest of your stuff (with lion you can do this with migration assistant: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4796)
4. Make a backup on the new computer (right click on device)
5. Sync to MBP once iTunes is the same as your pc
