itunes question

Hi all,
I have a new imac w/ ssd and hhd. my old itunes media folder is on the hhd. i just did a fresh install of snow leopard on the ssd. when i try to use the option key and open itunes, i try to point it to the existing media folder on the HDD. However, i get an error that says there is no itunes library file found. How can i get itunes to recognize this media folder on the HDD

If you don't care about play counts, you can just import the music again the normal way.
Otherwise, I don't know.

When choosing the library pick the whole iTunes folder, not the media folder within.
