I have been using iTunes since it was first released and ran up against some troubles lately. For some reason, my backup library was not transfering all of the songs. The songs were on my iPod and would play when my external hard drive was hooked up but would not play when the HD was disconnected. I could transfer over the songs again, and same problem. Also, song file names would duplicate themselves. My MacBook's hard drive recently crashed and was replaced and I am debating whether I should try to drag over my library or just rip the music right off of my iPod. Advice?

Also, we purchased a family iMac this past holiday season and I would likewise want to transfer my music to it. Additionally, I would like to share libraries between profiles. Do I just dump ALL the music into a shared library folder? I followed Apple's instructions online and the music is there but will not recognize between profiles.

Thanks.
