iTunes really slow

I have my entire library (movies, podcasts, music) of 200 gig on a Drobo external drive that is networked to my apple airport so I can access my library from multiple computers. iTunes is sporadically slow and currently in the process of trying to sync my apple TV with all the tv shows I have on it. Are there any diagnostic tools within Apple TV I can run to see what the issue is? This is driving me crazy, at this point, it is pretty much unresponsive.

combine that with wireless network which is slow

I bet you a dollar it's NOT iTunes.

The new iTunes is slow anyway. I currently have 15k tracks on my external harddrive and it's gotten worst since I've updated. I want to go back to the previous version, but I don't want to loose my playcounts and ratings.
