iTunes Replacment Specific Use Question

Hi all, bear with me and you will see what i am trying to do. I don't want to put my Blu-Ray movies into my iTunes Library, that is located on an external with all my photo/work related files. I am not even sure if iTunes will play 1080/740 whatever P movies. I am in the USAF stationed in Korea and now days everyone has a big screen in their "dorm' room. I have an iPad and the component cable that works amazingly. My delima is, how can i just put a large file HD movie on my iPad, take to another location, plug into the component, drink a few beers and relax after a long week with my friends? I thought i could just copy the movie to a USB but the Sony Bravia (the base special that everyone has) requires FAT 32 and mpeg1/2 only. Also for work I have GoodReader and almost every USAF regulation, is there a way to bring these up for everyone to see on a projector when researching/troubleshooting crappy Lockheed martin noise makers (F-16's)? P.S. question 1 is the important one, question 2 only gets me brownie points in meetings and i am fine without all that brown nosing.
