looking at storage on my rMBP iTunes is taking up 26GB which is mostly iOS apps that iTunes doesn’t manage anymore does it. What’s the best way to clear this data if it doesn’t use them anymore for a restore
 
You can delete them since they are no longer updated in iTunes or used for restore. Go to:

Macintosh HD/Users/your user name/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Mobile Applications/

Delete everything in the "Mobile Applications" folder.
