iTunes Russia... gift card?

I tried this a while back. Tried to buy a buddy a gift card for the US iTunes store....Even phoned Apple about it. Cant be done I was told, they are all country specific and governed by currency and Credit Card regs.

Am afraid I learned the hard way that there really is no work-around with this!! Tried EVERYTHING. Short of getting your friend a US credit card (and then using it to set up a new apple ID) then a US iTunes gift card will not work outside of the US!!!
If you really want to gift one, perhaps you can use paypal to purchase an iTunes gift card from a local retailer and have it delivered to your friend?
