I was just listening to "Bitter Sweet Symphony" by the Verve, and, twice now, iTunes has looped a small section of music and frozen my computer, for about a second each time. It has never done that to me before.

iTunes scared me

I've had this happen, but in QuickTime Player rather than in iTunes. The problem seems to be gone with QuickTime 7.5 and iTunes 7.7.1, though.
Does it happen when the display goes to sleep?
Sometimes pauses by a 1/4 of a second when my MBP display goes to sleep.

._. iTunes ate the last part of some of my songs I ripped off a CD. Bad part is...I don't have the CD anymore.
