itunes shuffle mode always plays the same songs in same order!

i noticed that i was actually listening to the same songs every time i started the shuffle mode from a song.
why?

I know sort of what you mean. When my iTunes is on shuffle I always get around the same songs out of a library of nearly 6000 songs... Not exactly shuffle...

Not all the time but more than I want... I skip those songs for a reason...

Have you guys tried playing with the randomization settings in iTunes. I've found that playing with that helps. I haven't messed with it since iTunes 8 came out though so I don't know if it is still there. It's worth a try though.

i cant find the settings you are talking about. there is nothing under preferences. the only options regarding shuffle is under "controls" shuffle by songs, albums or groupings
