I am looking for a way to get my iPod filled randomly with songs from a certain smart playlist (all songs rated 4 or 5 stars) while also including a certain set of songs from another playlist (top 25 or something) so they will always be on my iPod as well.

Right now, I can't think of a good way to solve this problem. Can you?

Yes, but I am not able to tell iTunes that it should sync "All from Playlist A" and then "As much as possible from Playlist B" afterwards.

However, I just realized that I can of course do two syncs after each other from different playlists with the second only adding tracks instead of replacing all from the first sync... :)

Still, Smart Priority Sync™ :D would be an interesting option I think.

Ok, here's a way to do it.

So, you've got two smart playlists, say Highly Rated and Top 25

Any you want all the Top 25 and then a random selection of Highly Rated on your iPod.

Firstly, create a new smart playlist called Random Highly Played, set us as follows

Match the following rule:
Playlist is Highly Rated
Limit to (ipod size - size of Top 25) GB selected at Random

Now, create another new smart playlist called iPod Sync as follows:

Match any of the following rules:
Playlist is Random Highly Rated
Playlist is Top 25

Now, sync this playlist to your iPod

I guess this won't work as easy on my iPod Shuffle and an Apple Lossless library which gets encoded to AAC during sync.
