Hi everybody,

I've recently upgraded from Mojave to the latest version of BigSur. I've done a clean install, because that's what I prefer.

I keep my music on an external hard drive, organized inside an iTunes library. I don't use Apple Music and have only few songs from the iTunes store. In fact, I've turned both off for now in the Music app preferences.
As you may be aware of, Apple has abandoned iTunes in favor of the "new" Music application, since Catalina.
Importing the legacy iTunes music library seemed to have worked fine and a new Music Library file was placed on the external hard drive. The music plays fine and all playlists seemed to have been ported correctly.

However, I've noticed some weird behavior with smart playlists, namely "Recently Played", "Top 100 Most Played", and a couple more. They don't seem to update anymore or at least not like they used to in iTunes.
The "Recently Played" one adds songs to its bottom, which is kind of weird. Previously in iTunes they were added to the top.
The "Top 100 Most Played" smart playlist doesn't display the right songs. I have songs that were played a couple of hundred times, whereas it displays songs that were played very little.
I've also tried deleting and recreating these playlists, but without success. The result is the same.

Now, when I check the song information by sorting the songs by play count or last played date in the standard songs playlist/category, they sort fine and as expected. What's happening here? Any ideas?

Thanks.

OK, I've figured it out!

For the "Recently Played" playlist, as well as the "Top 100" one, I needed to to open the View Options (CMD + J) in order to fix the issues.
For the "Recently Played" one, you want to set "View as:" to Songs and "Sort by:" to Last Played. Additionally, the Last Played stats need to enabled so that you can sort the playlist by that column.
The "Top 100 Most Played" playlist is easier to fix! In the View Options again, I set "View as:" to Songs and "Sort by:" to Plays.
