iTunes snapping to playing song

Has anyone noticed that when you're playing a song in iTunes and looking at a different place in your library, when the song finishes iTunes will snap back to the new song? Is there a way to disable this? I'm attempting to organize my iTunes library and listen to music at the same time...

I use a playlist containing my entire library to get around a similar problem. Playlists continue to play when your looking at other playlists or the main library. I use this playlist to play songs while using the main library for organising.
