So, here goes... A few days ago I turned on my computer to find to my dismay that it wouldn't turn on. So I call applecare, we do some diagnosis, and set up a repair. I send the computer back, and when it comes back OS X has been re-installed and all of the music is completely gone. The applecare rep told me that I could get the music back, but I'm somewhat unsure.

I've e-mailed iTunes customer service and haven't yet received a reply. What should I expect, is it my fault for not backing up? Errrgh if all my music is gone...

It is partly your fault for not backing up, you should always do that before sending your laptop away; anyone will tell you that.

However I'm sure i've read of cases like these where if you ring up, they'll allow you to re-download the songs you've purchased. I'm not sure if you have to have kept the email receipt though, perhaps someone can clear that up.
