I have a fair share of songs on my iPod that I want to keep around but don't usually want to listen to when I shuffle songs (Christmas music, some Classical, most of my Jazz collection, and a large part of live music).
Its easy on an individual basis to check the "Skip when shuffling" checkbox, and you can even set that option for multiple songs at a time.
But there doesn't seem to be any way to sort or filter the main window to see which songs already have the "Skip when shuffling" option set. Which apparently means you also can't set a smart playlist based on "Skip when shuffling".
The only workaround I've been able do is to create a manual playlist called "Skip when shuffling", select all those songs simultaneously and check the checkbox for all songs. Then make a smart playlist based on Playlist -> Is Not -> "Skip when shuffling".
This isn't ideal, especially since it seems to reset the timestamp on AAC files every time you reset that option (but strangely not for MP3 files) and it takes a long time to get through an entire iTunes collection.
Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Is this something that should be added to a future version of iTunes?
