This is quite annoying. I was importing a CD into my iTunes collection. It's 1 album, yet it appears as about 4 different separate pieces of music in iTunes.

Just wondering, is there a way to change this behavior in iTunes?

You may find it useful to put the featured artists with the song name when removing them from the artist field.

I always tag them like this to prevent this

Song Title (feat. Artist) - Main Artist

It also makes scrolling through artists (on my iPod) easier, I hate having Artist feat. Artist everywhere while scrolling artists.

That's not necessary if you're using the Album Artist field properly.

That's another way. But I wouldn't say there is a proper way to use the Album artist field. Personally I don't use it at all. I have my own "proper" way to sort my music.

That's how I do it as well. Artist selection doesn't get overcrowded, but a search still brings up all songs featuring the artist I searched for. I mainly use the Album Artist field for artist compilations which include tracks by other bands featuring the artist in question (Delerium on a Sarah McLachlan Best Of for example).
