I am running Lion, latest version.
I have an iMac with an SSD and hard drive.
My library for iTunes is huge, so I have it set up to point to the hard drive for the music folder.
Problem is iTunes insists on putting all iCloud, transferred purchases and updates on my boot SSD drive.
This is diving me nuts. I have 38 gigs of apps and it takes a good deal of my paltry SSD which holds the apps I use most and Lion.
I have two questions.
1. How do I force it to use the external drive for ALL iTunes media?
2. What is the best way to set up a dual drive system like this? I have searched and seen many threads with a variety of opinions. OS and apps on SSD, data on disk - like I have, or apps on SSD and OS on drive? etc.
Right now I messed things up as I get the missing app icon for most of my apps after I manually moved them to the Music folder on the hard drive. But when updating to iOS5 it backed up the 32 gig device on the SSD and I ran out of space!
Any help is very much appreciated.
I found iTuens ONLY recognizes the apps as installed if they are on the BOOT SSD drive and not the external. This seems odd. Music and movies can be anywhere, so why are apps forced on the boot drive?
