I have noticed recently that my iTunes appears to be starting up on its own without me launching it. I do not have it set as a log in item so I do not know why it is doing this. Additionally, the other day iTunes was open and I quit it. It quit and then relaunched on its own. I went back and fourth like this several times before just shutting down the computer. Any idea why iTunes is having a mind of its' own?

Do you have any lyrics/album artwork plugins installed to seek that info out for your iTunes library? I don't have software like that installed but short of another background process requiring iTunes to be active, it definitely shouldn't be automatically launching...

I've found this also - in Windows XP. When I load a new album by "import folder" inevitably when I quit iTunes it restarts. There are two iTunes instances running in the app manager and I have to manually kill the threads.
