The title says it all. And yes, I've unchecked "start on login" at the iTunes logo in the dock. I've also checked iTunes in the Preferences->User->Login items. There is no iTunes entry there, just iTunes helper.

Since the MBA is really fast it does not matter too much to let Lion open iTunes and close it then, but it's still a bit annoying.

Any suggestions?

Is it open when you turn off the MBA?
It does not matter. Sometimes it is, sometimes not. Either way it starts :(

Do you have it reopening programs?
Not sure what you mean

Anyways, I now added iTunes to my login items and checked it as "hidden". It still starts, but "secretly" :)

It doesn't have to be "open" with Lion, just "running". When you quit iTunes, are you really quitting, or just closing it by clicking on the "x"? You need to Command-Q or select "Quit iTunes" in the iTunes menu. Otherwise, when Lion restarts, it will open launch it again and open it back up.

This. The resume feature of lion opens whateve was still running when you shut off the Mac.

Exactly what I was trying to say, but explained much better!

I know the difference between quitting and closing a program and I do know the resume feature asking me to save open windows when I want to shutdown. However, none of this makes any difference. But don't worry, it's not that bad. :) Just wanted to ask if someone else has the same problem...

Check that iTunes hasn't accidentally been added to your "Login Items".

System Preferences > Users & Groups > Current User > Login Items

If iTunes is present, remove it by highlighting and clicking the remove button.
