Itunes Store missing left side panel?

When I'm in the Itunes store with version 9, the left side panel is gone where you would choose genre's for music or select from a list of categories for apps. Is it only me?

on the mac - go into preferences, then store and uncheck
"Use full window for iTunes Store"

and that left pane will come back. Should be similar on the PC too
