Hi there,

I'm a fairly recent Apple adopter, so please forgive my ignorance.

Around 7 years ago (6.5 years before i came to Apple) I was given an iTunes gift card. Not having any other use for iTunes, I purchased the album of a friend's band for support, who had just signed to a major record label. At the time i converted the files to mp3 as i didn't use itunes etc.

However, now that I have come to Apple. Even using the same Apple ID i created all of those years ago, not only is the purchase nowhere to be found, the album is simply not on itunes anymore. Is this normal?

Yes it is normal and within their T&Cs.

It is very annoying though when you have parted with money and cannot access what you bought. I has a similar experience with music album I bought. Also, in the App store some well known games apps that were available a few years ago are no longer there.

When I complained to Apple they advised of the T&Cs. Furthermore they advised to back everything up on a regular basis.
