I have an ADSL connection - 256mb and this is the best I could get. I wanted to download the latest iphone 2.2 update so I opened iTunes, plugged in my iPhone 3G and it told me there was an update and I clicked on "Download only" - so as you could imagine a file like 250mb would need 2 or 3 hours to be downloaded but once the download reached to 50% it stopped and iTunes said there was an error.

I tried the pause & resume feature but it doesn't work - the download restarts from zero again.

So what do you guys suggest? Can I download the firmware file without using iTunes and then how to update?
