itunes synching issue

not sure if anyone has come accross this before but when i plug in my iPhone to sync, the phone is recognised, but will not automatically sync and has to be done manually.

Also the information that is normally seen ie the status regarding the memory status is blank and just says iPhone in the background.

any ideas on how to fix this?

When you connect your iPhone to iTunes, if you'll look at the bottom part of iTunes where it displays your iPhone info, there's a checkbox there that says "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" or something like that, you need to check that if you want to sync it by the time it connects.
