iTunes syncing help

So I did a backup on my iPhone 4s, connected my iPhone 5 and all it transferred was contacts, message, settings. Im wondering how do I get my apps and music across to the new phone? If I transfer purchase from my iPhone 4s to my iTunes and sync my iPhone 5 will I get all the music and apps with the data in them, such as game progression etc? Please help, I haven't done this in quite awhile

It will initially restore your contacts, cal, settings from the backup. Then you have to sync your phone to get the apps, music, video back on your new iPhone. After all that your new phone should be identical to your old one.
